There is universal unanimity with the view that Alloy Wheels provide better quality, heat conduction, and smooth driving experience than their steel counterparts. Alloy Wheels are made by mixing various metals so that they can withstand high stress levels and pressures when they move on roads.
There are various types of Alloy Wheels and liquid forged alloy wheel is perhaps, one of the most recent addition in the Alloy Wheels categories. A liquid forged alloy wheel is produced through a process of exerting extreme amount of pressure on a solid piece of aluminum placed between dies. The extreme pressure creates a product which is very strong and quite light. The end product, the liquid forged alloy wheel, is a light weight, extremely strong, and dense wheel. The entire forging process is carried out through computer numerically controlled machines. Since a forged wheel is produced through a process that compacts the aluminum metal, it reduces the chances of porosity and voids which if found in a wheel, may lead to corrosion and cracks later on. The lightness of the liquid forged alloy wheel would lead to efficiency in fuel consumption. That is, less fuel will be consumed to drive lighter weights. In addition, it also results in better acceleration due to the fact that a light weight wheel having lesser amount of inertia is easier to control and maneuver.
Semi solid forging is a similar process but needs lesser technological complexity. In this process, an alloy billet is heated to an almost liquid state and then aluminum is poured into a mold at a very high rate. The resultant product provides similar characteristics as liquid forged alloy wheel, and provides savings in cost of production. This method can also be used to produce high quality aluminum Alloy Wheels.
Due to the technological complexity involved in the process of liquid forging, the liquid forged Alloy Wheels are usually more expensive than the traditional wheels, but at the same time, they have much higher demand in markets than the steel wheels.
As stated above, liquid forged Alloy Wheels are fast replacing the traditional steel wheels in world markets. Many automobile manufacturers, users, and critics have realized the marked differences and improvements that liquid forged Alloy Wheels provide to the users. This is the reason why a number of new models are now being offered with liquid forged Alloy Wheels to provide control, fuel saving, and pleasure ride to end users.
